The win was pretty overwhelming - David Warner

The stage is all set for the clash of the champions in the final of IPL 2016. The Royal Challengers Bangalore are all set to host the Sunrisers Hyderabad, in what promises to an absolute gem of a final. The best batting side of the tournament to take on the best bowling side! Does it get any better than this?

Sunrisers’ charge against the Gujarat Lions in Delhi was single handedly led by the ever dynamic David Warner. Warner was absolutely flawless as his innings covered all bases and he remained unbeaten to guide his side through in a tricky run chase. Chasing 163 to win, the Sunrisers were dented quite often but Warner remained steady and solid. Warner’s unbeaten 93 off 58 was enough eventually to get the Sunrisers past the Lions with 4 balls to spare.

In the post match presentation, Warner said that he was all geared up to take on the Royal Challengers in the final. “Pretty overwhelming. Tried to hang on, get partnerships. Knew if one of us were in, we would win on this good batting surface. Lot of credit to Bipul for playing the way he did; hit Morne out of the park in the last game. Bipul’s being bowling well, got good change of pace and his work ethic is fantastic. There’s only one slot for a full-time spinner and he has been churning them in the nets for us. The way he came in and did that today was fantastic. It’s a team game,” said a delighted Warner about the game.

“I thought we have to come back strong from the last time we played RCB. We won the toss and bowled, and they put the runs on the board. Virat Kohli, what a player. We will try to get him out but the other players bat well around him. When he fails, there’s ABD. It’s about executing our skills and not worrying about the player they have. It’s all about having a gameplan, that is all we can do. Thanks to the crowd who have been fantastic for the whole tournament,” Warner further added.
