With the time progress, world sports have become serious in doping. At present, most of the sports strictly follow the doping rules to deliver fair competition.

Like the other sports, cricket also follows similar strict rules in doping. If the cricketers fail in the dope test, the governing bodies punish them. The players sometimes involve in this unknowingly due to taking the banned medicines.

Most of the times, the cricketers face suspension for the doping violation. It hurts them hugely as they lose trust.

Here are the top ten cricketers who faced suspensions for the doping violation.

10. Yusuf Pathan

The all-rounder Yusuf Pathan is famous for his aggressive batting. He has played 79 international matches for India, and he was a member of India’s victories in 2007 ICC World T20 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

In March 2017, during a domestic T20 competition, Pathan provided a urine sample as part of the BCCI’s anti-doping testing program. After testing that sample, it was found to contain Terbutaline. This substance is prohibited both In & Out of Competition in the WADA prohibited list of substances.

The BCCI handed Pathan for a back-dated five months suspension that ended on 14th January 2018.
