Although New Zealand is yet to make a squad announcement for the West Indies T20I and Test series at home, Trent Boult is targeting for the Test series and is not sure of his inclusion in the T20I set up. Coming from an extraordinary season for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, he is currently quarantined in the hotel.

While speaking to the reporters on a conference call on Friday, the speedster stated that he didn’t know when he will be out of the isolation period. As he is expecting to be complete the isolation just a day before the T20I starts, Boult is only focused on playing in the Test matches.

“I don’t even know what time we get out. I know that we finish up here the day before it (the T20 series) starts. I’m probably just targeting the Test matches as usual,” Trent Boult maintained while answering reporters.

The T20I series is starting at Eden Park with the next two matches to be played at Boult’s home ground, Mount Manganui’s Bay Oval, and two Tests in Hamilton and Wellington. He wants to keep himself ready mentally for all the challenges.

“I’ve got to make sure that I’m ready for them. If I’m involved in the T20s earlier as well then that will be exciting too.

“While the workloads probably aren’t quite there for test match cricket, I definitely feel better off having tasted some cricket. I just need to progress it as quickly as I can,” Trent Trent Boult said.

The respective Kiwi and West Indian contingents from the IPL arrived in New Zealand on Thursday. They took a charter flight from Auckland to Christchurch on Friday to start their managed isolation in separate bubbles.

Trent Boult last played the T20I match in November last year. He has ruled out the T20I series against India earlier this year because he was suffering from an injury. After over a year, the speedster will mark his comeback in this format if his name is in the squad for the West Indies T20I series.
