Former India skipper MS Dhoni received the country’s third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.

Interestingly, the 36-year old received the prestigious award exactly seven years since lifting the World Cup as India skipper in Mumbai on April 2, 2011. The win ended India’s 28-year long wait for the World Cup. The legendary skipper received the award dressed in his Lieutenant Colonel uniform. The Indian Territorial Army had conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Dhoni on November 1, 2011.

Dhoni is the second cricketer after Kapil Dev to receive this honour. Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to wish the keeper-batsman.

Here are some of the reactions:

The latest award adds another feather to his already impressive haul of trophies. He has won the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009 (the first player to win the award twice), the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2007 and the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour in 2009.
