Twitter Reacts As Virat Kohli Continues Dismal Form On New Zealand Tour
Feb 23, 2020 at 2:00 PM
T20Is – 45, 11, 38, 11, ODIs – 51, 15, 9, Tests – 2, 19, these are the scores of Indian captain Virat Kohli on ongoing New Zealand tour. Kohli has scored a solitary fifty on the ongoing tour and has looked out of sorts. The Indian captain once again looked uncomfortable during his stay of 19 runs in the second innings of the ongoing first Test match at Basin Reserve, Wellington.
Kohli was once again tested on the fifth stump line by the Kiwis bowlers. But Kohli was able to somehow negate that plan and survived the acid test. Subsequently, the New Zealand bowlers switched to Plan B and tested Kohli with short-pitched stuff.
Kohli is under the pump.
Trent Boult bowled a head high bumper and Kohli went for the hook shot. However, the Indian captain could only manage a faint edge to the wicket-keeper BJ Watling. Thus, Kohli continued his poor form going as he hasn’t been at his best in the ongoing tour of New Zealand.
In fact, Kohli would be really disappointed as he is getting off to starts but he has failed to convert them into substantial scores, which has been his forte over the years. Kohli is a quality batsman and there is no doubt in the fact that he is one big knock away from hitting the purple patch.
Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane (25) and Hanuma Vihari (15) made sure the tourists go back unscathed after the dismissal of Virat Kohli. Early in the day, India had a dream start as they got two early wickets of BJ Watling and Tim Southee.
However, once again the opposition’s tail frustrated the Indian bowling. Colin de Grandhomme and debutant Kyle Jamieson added 71 runs for the eighth wicket partnership with the former scoring 43 runs. Jamieson continued to have a dream debut as he scored 44 runs. Furthermore, Trent Boult added salt to the injury as the clobbered 38 runs from only 24 balls.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Virat Kohli’s poor form:

NZ take a lead of 183.
Only once India conceded a higher 1st innings lead under Kohli – 289 vs Eng at Lord's in 2018.
That Test remains the only instance of India losing after batting first under Kohli.#NZvIND

Give Kohli one more Test just to make sure he doesn't belong here.
Now wait for this tweet to work wonders. #NZvIND
