Two Hong Kong international cricketers Irfan Ahmed and Nadeem Ahmed have faced life bans for their involvement in the match-fixing. Moreover, another Hong Kong international cricketer Haseeb Amjad has received five years suspension for the same reason.

Earlier, last October, the International Cricket Council (ICC) provisionally suspended these cricketers for breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Now, the ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal has found them guilty of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. So, the ICC has taken the latest tough actions.

According to the ICC official website, “During the hearing, the Tribunal heard evidence that all three players fixed or contrived to fix matches, failed, for reward, to perform and failed to disclose approaches to fix during a number of international fixtures across a two-year period.”

Hong Kong Cricketers are guilty of multiple offences

The 29-year-old Irfan Ahmed has been found guilty of nine offences under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. He played six ODIs and eight T20Is. In the professional career, the all-rounder played two first-class matches, 21 List A matches and 32 T20s. He last played his professional cricket match on 25th July 2015 which was the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier semifinal against Scotland.

The ICC has found guilty the 31-year-old Nadeem Ahmed in three offences under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. He is a left-arm spinner who played 25 ODIs and 24 T20Is for Hong Kong. The left-arm spinner played seven first-class games, 45 List A matches and 37 T20s. He featured in the Asia Cup 2018, and his last ODI was against India in that tournament, which was also his last professional game.

Both Irfan and Nadeem have faced life bans, while Haseeb Amjad has got a five-year suspension. Amjad has been found guilty of three offences under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

The 31-year-old Rawalpindi-born right-arm pacer Haseeb Amjad also served for Pakistan U19. He played seven ODIs and 18 T20Is for Hong Kong. In the professional career, Amjad played two first-class matches, 16 List A matches and 32 T20s. His last professional game was against Afghanistan in the first round of ICC World T20 2016.
