The record four-time U19 Cricket World Cup winners India U19 reached their seventh final of this tournament history after claiming a one-sided victory against Pakistan U19 in the semi-final of ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 at Potchefstroom.

They played this first semi-final of this tournament on Tuesday (4th February). Pakistan U19 won the toss and decided to bat first. However, only three Pakistan youngsters managed to register double-digit scores in that innings as they were bowled out for just 172 runs (43.1 overs).

Opener Haider Ali scored 56 runs off 77 balls (9 fours) while the captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir scored 62 runs off 102 balls (6 fours). Mohammad Haris was the third-highest run-scorer in that innings with 21 runs.

Indian left-arm pacer Sushant Mishra (3/28) took three wickets while Kartik Tyagi (2/32) and Rabi Bishnoi (2/46) managed to pick up two wickets each. Atharva Ankolekar (1/29) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (1/11) also managed to scalp one wicket in that innings.

In reply, India U19 openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyaansh Saxena comfortably chased down that target in 35.2 overs without losing their wickets. They built up the 176 runs partnership for the unbroken opening wicket which was the highest partnership for any wicket in youth ODI semi-finals. Also, it was the third-highest partnership for any wicket in the knock-out stages of youth ODI history.

While Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting on 105 runs off 113 balls (8 fours and 4 sixes), Divyaansh Saxena was not out on 59 runs off 99 balls (6 fours). Jaiswal finished that match with a sixer, and that also completed his century. He won the Player of the Match award.

India U19 won this match by ten wickets, and it was the first 10-wicket victory in the knock-out stages of youth ODI history.

The second semi-final of this tournament will be played on this Thursday (6th February) between New Zealand U19 and Bangladesh U19. The winner of the match will face the defending champions India U19 in the final of ICC U19 CWC 2020 on this Sunday (9th February).
