UAE Bundled out for 102: Lowest Totals against India in World Cups

Editor Sportzwiki / 28 February 2015

Indian bowlers created history against UAE in their Pool B encounter when they dismissed the opposition for just 102. It is the lowest score for any opposition against India in the World Cups.

After choosing to bat, UAE got off to a worst possible start as they lost both their openers Andri Berenger and Amjad Ali inside the first 5 overs. Umesh Yadav got rid off Berenger whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is playing his first game of the tournament, got the better off Ali. Ashwin then joined the party and took the wickets of Krishna Chandran, Swapnil Patil and Khurram Khan in quick succession to leave UAE reeling at 44/5 in 17 overs. Mohit Sharma kept it tight from one end and Ravindra Jadeja, who came into bowl in the 21st over, grabbed the wicket of Amjad Javed of his very first ball. UAE put on 31 for the last wicket as Manjula Guruge and Shamian Anwar held fort and deayed the inevitable before Umesh Yadav cleaned up Anwar.

Today’s score is 7 runs short of Sri Lanka’s 109 during the 2003 World Cup. Here is the entire list of lowest totals against India in World Cups.
