Ambati Rayudu echoed every Indian cricket fan’s sentiment when he got emotional after Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s glittering captaincy career came to an end. The stage was set for a memorable goodbye as Dhoni, in front of thousands of his fans, helped India A to post 304 runs with a 40-ball 68.

However, England spoiled the party with a solid batting display. Led by Sam Billings’ 93, Eoin Morgan’s men chased down the total with 7 balls remaining. Well, Dhoni did not get fitting end to his captaincy career but that does not take away the fact that he will always remain as one of the finest skippers to grace the game. The end to his illustrious captaincy career has undoubtedly made everyone emotional and Rayudu is no different.

Speaking after the match, the right-handed batsman who scored 100 before retiring hurt, said:”It was really tough. Six months out of the game is frustrating. Happy that I had a good knock. I was just hoping to react to the ball, not thinking too much. It’s very emotional.

Speaking about Dhoni, he said:”I personally feel he [Dhoni] is the best captain India has ever had. Very happy that I could score a hundred in his last game as captain. He’s a living legend. I was just watching him, even today he was emotionless. As cool as ever. I’m teary eyed right now. Best part about Dhoni is that he keeps things simple. No panic. He helps youngsters and people like me to build our cricket.
