In an weird incident during the second ODI between India and Bangladesh at Mirpur, India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has managed to do what other batsmen around the world won’t even think of doing- defending a Free-Hit ball.

After Bangladesh bowler Taskin Ahmed overstepped and was called for a no-ball, Kohli was presented with a Free-Hit as the punishment for a no-ball in one-day cricket. This means the batsman can only be dismissed by being run out, and consequently usually tries to score as many runs as possible off the delivery. But Kohli, who took a strangely conservative approach by simply pushing the ball to the off side for a dot ball.

Kohli must have forgot that it was a Free-Hit or could have been in two minds while playing the ball. Kohli eventually got trapped in front by Nasir Hossain for 23 as India were dismissed for 200. Bangladesh went on win the match by 6 wickets.
