Players may come and go but something never changes. Today, once again, the former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni stole the show as in the quarter-final game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016/17 at Palam Stadium, the Jharkhand skipper MS Dhoni sailed his team to a win over Vidarbha, by finishing off the game in style by hitting a six off Ganesh Satish.
After winning the toss, the Vidarbha skipper Faiz Fazal opted to bat first. They had a torrid start as they lost their first four wickets, including that of Ambati Raydu on a score of 18. Abhishek Chaurasia though spent some time at the crease but soon went back after staying for a period of 24 balls.
The wickets continued to tumble and it was the innings of 62 from Ravi Jangid that helped his team to reach a score of 159.
Jharkhand bowlers bowled economically and kept a strong check over Vidarbha batsmen. Shahbaz Nadeem was the most economical bowler with an excellent spell of 8-1-13-1.
Debutant Pratyush Singh and former Under 19 skipper Ishan Kishan opened the innings for Jharkhand. Both the youngsters led a strong base and shared 68 runs for the first wicket. The middle order continued to score small but useful runs and soon Jharkhand was on brink of a win as they need just one run off 5 overs.
Then came the highlight of the day when MS Dhoni smashed Ganesh Satish for a six to seal the game for the state and qualify for the semi-final. Jharkhand will now be facing Manoj Tiwary led Bengal at Palam Ground on March 17.
