The name Virat Kohli brings three words to your mind – Passion, Records and Genius. There aren’t many people out there who have the kind of talent this guy possesses. At a tender age of 25, Virat Kohli has achieved more in his short career than most players achieve in their entire career. This IPL 2014 will be just another challenge for Virat Kohli and the champion batsman would be eager to win Royal Challengers Bangalore their first ever title in Indian Premier League 2014.
Virat Kohli’s brilliance with the bat is known to all and the number of records Virat Kohli breaks every year, time and again is nothing short of astonishing. Many even compare him to the great Sachin Tendulkar and though it is quite unfair to Virat Kohli but one can’t argue looking at his statistics and records. This IPL 2014 though will be a huge challenge for the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain with a new team and new conditions to adapt to.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have always been there and there about during each edition and IPL 2014 will be no different. Virat Kohli and his men would like to straighten some records in their favor having been unsuccessful so far to win the IPL title when with all the big names at their disposal.
Virat Kohli’s captaincy last season had few flaws according to some critics but if his captaincy in the Asia Cup for India was some indication then Virat Kohli is going to be a revelation in this IPL 2014 as a captain and as batsman as well. Having being named the Man of the Tournament in the recently concluded 2014 ICC World Twenty20, Virat Kohli’s confidence is sure to be sky high.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have the firepower of Chris Gayle in their arsenal yet again and everyone who follows the game will tell you how destructive this West Indian always is. A.B. Devilliers who was also retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore side, will provide the stability in the middle order arguably being the best batsman over all formats in the game at present.
Though it was a bad T20 World Cup for Yuvraj Singh but he is no cookie when it comes down to T20. We have all witnessed his destruction in previous years and having been bought for a record 14-crore price tag, Yuvraj Singh has huge point to prove to all his doubters. The bowling will be headed by a young Australian Mitchell Starc who is one of the best death overs in T20 cricket.
Though the lower middle order and the bowling line-up seems a bit weak but when you have Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, A.B. Devilliers and Yuvraj Singh in your batting line-up there is no score that cannot be chased down or no upper threshold for a target to be set. Pune Indian Warriors will vouch for the last point I’m sure.
All in all, Virat Kohli is set to lead a very talented Royal Challengers Bangalore side into IPL 2014 and if the team clicks together, not many teams can stop them for winning their first ever title at IPL 2014.
