Virat Kohli Creates History After Innings Win Against Bangladesh
India defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 135 runs in the first Test at Indore. This was 10 innings win for the Indian team under the leadership of Virat Kohli and thus he became the most successful Indian captain with most innings wins.
Kohli went past former skipper MS Dhoni’s record who had registered nine innings win for India. Meanwhile, former captain Mohammad Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly had eight and seven innings wins respectively.
Virat Kohli has been brilliant.
On the other hand, former South African captain Graeme Smith is the most successful captain with 22 innings wins. Former Australian captain Steve Waugh had led his team to 14 innings victories. Former England skipper Peter May had registered 12 innings wins.
Meanwhile, former England skipper Andrew Strauss, ex-West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, and former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming had led their respective teams to 11 innings wins.
On the other side, Mohammed Shami was once again the pick of the Indian bowlers as he scalped four wickets to continue his domination in the second innings. Shami was right on the money and picked up seven wickets in the match. Ravichandran Ashwin also supported Shami as he snared three wickets in the second essay.
Bangladesh had posted 150 runs in the first innings after opting to bat first. Subsequently, India posted a huge score of 493 runs courtesy a double ton from Mayank Agarwal. The right-hander batted at the top of his game as he scored 28 fours and eight sixes in his mammoth innings. This was Agarwal’s second double century as he has had a fine start to his Test career.
On the other hand, Agarwal also got good support from Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja who all scored half-centuries. Meanwhile, Abu Jayed was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers as he took four wickets.
However, Bangladesh just could put up a fight against the juggernauts Indian side. The tourists were outplayed in all the three departments of the game and they would need to play out of their skin to challenge the Indian side.
