Former Indian pacer, Ajit Agarkar pointed out the most visible difference between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. He said Virat Kohli has shown more faith in fast bowlers as compared to MS Dhoni. The captain cool retired as the only captain to win all major ICC trophies (50-over World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy) while Virat Kohli is yet to win major trophies with team India as captain.

Recently, MS Dhoni shocked the world by announcing his retirement from international cricket on the 15th of August. Ajit Agarkar is the third-highest wicket-taker for India in ODIs, and played for quite some time under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

The former Indian pacer opined that MS Dhoni uses to be very dependant on spinners and made his strategies accordingly, while Virat Kohli has shown more faith in fast bowlers. The change has shown results in the international circuit according to Agarkar.
“The major difference I see is that MS Dhoni used to depend a lot on the spin bowlers to make his strategies. Virat Kohli, in a slight deviation, has shown more faith in fast bowlers.Because of that when India plays overseas Test matches, it has made a lot of difference to the results.
The performance has been better and we have been able to compete more. Probably this was a stark difference because both had a different way of leading, but both got a lot of success.” Ajit Agarkar said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected

Agarkar said that if a captain carries faith in his players then good results are well assured. He praised Virat Kohli for carrying India to the winning ways under his leadership.
“Virat Kohli has been a captain for such a long time in all formats and we can see how good the results have been. The methods might be different but if you show faith in your players, then you get good results as a captain.”
The Indian cricket team last played International cricket against New Zealand in March when everything was halted due to the sudden outbreak of the Coronavirus. Former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that England will tour India in February 2021, after India visit Australia in December. This will resume international cricket in India which had been halted due to the pandemic.
