Indian captain Virat Kohli is a member of the highly-rated fab four including Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root. The four players are now and then compared with each other, especially Virat and Smith have tough competition. Former Australian cricketer Ian Chappell has ended the debate saying that Virat is unquestionably best among others.

Kohli averages close to 60 in ODIs and just over 50 in the shortest format of the game which makes him ahead of his counterparts, that is why Chappell believes that the 31-year-old is the best.

“Of that group (including Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root), Kohli is the best in all three forms. That’s unquestionable,”Chappell said on ‘The RK Show’, which is hosted by Radhakrishnan Sreenivasan on YouTube.

“His record in all three forms is quite unbelievable, particularly his record in the shorter forms.”

Chappell feels that Virat’s approach is only to play cricketing shots irrespective of the format makes him the great. He also added that other factor that affects the skipper’s performance is his fitness which helps him to produce extraordinary performances.

“The other thing that stands out about Kohli is his fitness and running between the wickets. The way he pushes himself, he’s incredibly fit. Some of his performances are quite amazing,” said Chappell.

Further, the former Aussies skipper also admired Virat’s captaincy, saying that he never fears to fail. As per him, captaincy has made Virat more effective and evolved him as a smart cricketer.

Currently, The flamboyant cricketer is the highest scorer in the shortest format, scoring 2794 runs in 82 T20I matches. He also the leading scorer in ODIs, having 11, 867 runs in 248 games.
