Virat Kohli, the Indian captain suffered an injury scare before the first T20I against Sri Lanka. The talisman was hit on his little finger of left-hand while trying to catch a ball in the practice session. The incident happened in the first half of the practice session. India’s team physio Nitin Patel rushed to attend the captain and he was seen applying the magic spray. Thus, if Kohli is ruled out of the series opener, it would be a huge blow for the Indian team.
Meanwhile, the only major absentee from the Indian practice camp was all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was the last to arrive on Thursday. Both Sri Lanka and India will play a T20I match after a gap of 22 months.
This can be a huge blow for India.
India had successful T20I series against Bangladesh and the West Indies as they won both the series by 2-1. On the other hand, Sri Lanka stunned Pakistan by 3-0 at the latter’s home but they were outgunned 0-3 by the potent Australian team.

Sri Lanka is yet to defeat India in a bilateral series since the debut of Virat Kohli back in 2008. Kohli has an immaculate record against the Islanders and he has scored four fifties in the four T20I matches he has played against them. Interestingly, Kohli hasn’t played a solitary match against Sri Lanka in the home conditions.
The last time Sri Lanka had toured India back in 2017, Virat Kohli was given rest and Rohit Sharma had led the team in his absence. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah will be making a comeback for the Indian team after missing home series against South Africa, Bangladesh, and the West Indies.
Shikhar Dhawan also gets back into the side after the injury and he will open the innings with in-form KL Rahul in the absence of vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who has been rested from the three-match series. The first T20I will be played tomorrow at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
