Today team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri celebrates his 58th birthday amid the coronavirus pandemic. He is currently serving his second-term as a head coach of the Men in Blue. The Indian captain Virat Kohli extended his wishes to the former Indian cricketer with a special note on social media.

BCCI selected Shastri for the coaching role in 2017 after Anil Kumble resigned from the role. Impressed with his job, the Indian board re-appointed him as the head coach after the ICC World Cup 2019. His term would end next year after the ICC T20 World Cup in India.

Before getting into cricket administration, Shastri was a successful opening batsman while also a commentator after retirement. The former cricketer has represented India in 150 ODIs and 80 Test matches. The highlight of his career was when he was elected Champion of Champions in the World Championship of Cricket in Australia in 1985.

Under his coaching, India won the first-ever Test series in Australian soil. The team also entered the semi-final of the World Cup 2019 during his tenure.
