Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has advised Kings XI Punjab to bring back Chris Gayle in their batting attack to face off Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday (October 15).
Chris Gayle had missed out first few matches because he was under the quarantine period. He was also kept out of further few matches to try out different combinations while the last two-three matches he missed due to a stomach bug.
KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have given a good start to the team, but the middle-order has been unable to carry on the momentum. As a result, KXIP has one match in seven matches played so far. Their defeat has increased the demand for Gayle in the playing XI.
Virender Sehwag urges KXIP to play Chris Gayle against RCB:
As now Gayle has recovered from his illness, Virender Sehwag has opined that the veteran should be included in the playing XI.
“News is that Chris Gayle is back after chilling in the hospital. The youngsters weren’t able to make a dent, now bring Gayle on!,” Sehwag said on his YouTube show ‘Viru ki Baithak.’
Sehwag explained that Gayle’s record against RCB is outstanding so he should replace KL Rahul from the opening position while the KXIP captain should come to bat at no.3 position.
“Note that Gayle’s record against Bangalore is impeccable. An average of 54 and his strike rate is known to all bowlers. So let Gayle open with the Serious Man Mayank (Agarwal), and KL can come in at No.3 to maintain the balance of the team,” Sehwag said on his YouTube show ‘Viru ki Baithak’.
KXIP have won their first clash against RCB in the ongoing IPL season. They are going to meet for the second time in Sharjah.
