Vitality T20 Blast: Watch Max Waller Grabs A Sublime Catch Of Ab de Villiers
Somerset’s leg-spinner Max Waller took a fine one-handed blinder to dismiss Middlesex talismanic batsman AB de Villiers. The former South African batsman had timed the ball to perfection but Max Waller took a splendid catch at the mid-wicket boundary.
AB de Villiers was looking ominous as he had already scored 32 runs from 16 balls. However, Somerset lost the match by six wickets and thus Middlesex qualified for the quarterfinal where they will play Nottinghamshire on 5th September.
It was a blinder from Max Waller.
Somerset posted a par score of 226 runs after they won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they didn’t get off to a good start as their opener Babar Azam was dismissed without troubling the scorers. It was a crucial wicket for Middlesex as the Pakistan batsman is in fine form.
Somerset’s wicket-keeper batsman Tom Banton scored a good knock of 62 runs off just 39 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes. Subsequently, Somerset’s skipper Tom Abell scored a 47-ball 101 with the help of 13 fours and three maximums. Edward Byrom added the finishing touches to the score as smashed 44 runs from 20 balls.
Middlesex have qualified for Quarterfinals.
On the other hand, Middlesex got off to a quick start as their captain Dawid Malan and Paul Stirling added 67 runs inside four overs. Somerset was in the driver’s seat as Middlesex were 128-4. However, Eoin Morgan played a blistering knock of 83 runs from only 29 balls. The southpaw scored five fours and eight sixes. Consequently, Middlesex was able to qualify for the knockout stages where they will play Nottinghamshire.
Lancashire, Essex, Sussex, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, and Derbyshire are the other six teams who have qualified for the quarterfinals. The final of the Vitality T20 Blast will be played on 21 September at Birmingham. In fact, the semifinal of the league will also be played on 21st September at the same venue of Edgbaston.
