VVS Laxman Congratulates MS Dhoni on Receiving the Padma Bhushan

Former India captain MS Dhoni received the country’s third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan from President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan, yesterday.

Along with Dhoni, cueist Pankaj Advan also received the prestigious award.

Meanwhile, Dhoni came to the ceremony in his Lieutenant Colonel uniform. Further, he walked like army personnel when he went to receive the award.

However, The Indian Territorial Army had conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Dhoni on November 1, 2011, months after India won their second World Cup under his leadership.

Surprisingly, Dhoni received the award exactly seven years after lifting the ICC Cricket World Cup.

India lifted the prestigious trophy on Apri 2, 2011 ended 28 years draft. Further, Dhoni brought home the title with a magnificent six to finish the game against Sri Lanka.

VVS Laxman congratulates Dhoni:

Former India cricketer VVS Laxman congratulated Dhoni on winning the prestigious Padma Bhushan. He also admitted it was wonderful to see Dhoni donning the army uniform.

It was absolutely wonderful to see the pride with which @msdhoni wore his Territorial army uniform while receiving the well deserved #PadmaBhushan today, exactly 7 years after we won the 2011 World Cup. Heartiest congratulations !” Laxman tweeted.

Meanwhile, Dhoni is now gearing up for the upcoming Indian Premier League. He will lead the Chennai Super Kings in the cash-rich tournament.
