VVS Laxman Congratulates MS Dhoni on Receiving the Padma Bhushan

Former India captain MS Dhoni received the country’s third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan from President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan, yesterday.
Along with Dhoni, cueist Pankaj Advan also received the prestigious award.
Meanwhile, Dhoni came to the ceremony in his Lieutenant Colonel uniform. Further, he walked like army personnel when he went to receive the award.
However, The Indian Territorial Army had conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Dhoni on November 1, 2011, months after India won their second World Cup under his leadership.
Surprisingly, Dhoni received the award exactly seven years after lifting the ICC Cricket World Cup.
India lifted the prestigious trophy on Apri 2, 2011 ended 28 years draft. Further, Dhoni brought home the title with a magnificent six to finish the game against Sri Lanka.
The 36-year old Dhoni is the eleventh Indian cricketer to receive this honour.
Dhoni has been the recipient of many awards, including the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009 (the first player to win the award twice), the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2007 and the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour in 2009.

Meanwhile, Dhoni is now gearing up for the upcoming Indian Premier League. He will lead the Chennai Super Kings in the cash-rich tournament.
However, CSK is coming back after two years of the ban and will start their campaign against Mumbai Indians on April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
