Washington Sundar was praised by Indian team’s coach Ravi Shastri who said that Washington Sundar’s performance for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Mumbai Indians is the best so far in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
His remark came as RCB defeated Mumbai Indians in the Super Over at the Dubai International Stadium after the scores were tied in the stipulated 20 overs. Both the teams scored 201 runs after a late flourish by Mumbai Indian’s Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard.
Washington Sundar’s Performance Was IPL’s Best So Far: Ravi Shastri
In the Super Over, Mumbai Indians were able to score just seven runs as Navdeep Saini bowled a brilliant over, and RCB’s Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers chased it down with ease.
For RCB, Washington Sundar just conceded 12 runs in his quota of four overs and he also picked up the crucial wicket of Mumbai Indian’s skipper Rohit Sharma. His economy rate was just 3 which was exemplary considering the other bowlers of RCB having an economy rate of more than 10.
Taking note of Washington Sundar’s performance, Ravi Shastri tweeted: “In a batsman’s world – from Chennai to Washington. Best IPL performance so far in 2020. Special.”

In the match against Mumbai Indians, RCB left out regular wicket-keeper Josh Philippe and AB De Villiers donned the gloves to do the wicket-keeping duties. Navdeep Saini Bowls A Superb Super Over As RCB Win
Chasing 202, Mumbai found itself at a spot of bother at 78/4, but it was then that Ishan Kishan got together with Kieron Pollard at the crease and the duo formed a stand of 119 runs to take the side closer to the target.
Ishan Kishan played a knock of 99, studded with two fours and nine sixes but missed out on 100 while trying to hit a six. On the other hand, Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 60 off just 24 balls with the help of three fours and five sixes. But MI failed to use most of the opportunity in the Super Over bowled by Navdeep Saini.
For RCB, pacer Navdeep Saini finished with figures of 0-43 in his four overs. The pacer also bowled the Super Over, in which he conceded just seven runs even though MI’s Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya were at the middle. AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli then scored six and five respectively to win the match of the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah.
RCB has played three matches in IPL 2020 so far and the side has managed to win two out of these three. The Virat Kohli-led side will next lock horns with Rajasthan Royals on October 3.
