Watch: Ravichandran Ashwin’s Beauty Leaves Quinton de Kock In Shock
Hitting the top of off-stump is the ultimate mode of dismissal for any bowler. India’s talisman spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a jaffa to get rid of South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock. Ashwin was able to get the ball spin away from the southpaw batsman and he was able to hit the top of off-stump.
Subsequently, Quinton de Kock was left shocked and could not believe his dismissal. The southpaw batsman stood there at the crease in shock while the Indian players started to celebrate. In fact, Ravindra Jadeja had to tell de Kock that he has been bowled and needs to go back to the pavilion.
It was a jaffa from Ashwin.
Thus, de Kock took a long time to leave the crease as he was utterly in shock. The left-hander was looking good in his knock of 31 runs but his knock was put paid by a beauty from India’s talisman spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The southpaw batsman had scored seven fours but he could not convert his start into a substantial score.
Meanwhile, South Africa is struggling at 197-8 at the time of tea. Only Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis was able to show some resistance as the right-hander scored a fine knock of 64 runs from 117 balls. However, no other batsman has gone past the 50-run mark.
Umesh Yadav has been the pick of the Indian bowlers as he has scalped three wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Shami have taken two wickets each whereas Ravindra Jadeja has snared one wicket.
Thus, the hosts’ have put their noses in front of the ongoing second Test match and it is going to be a herculean task for the visitors to get out of jail in Pune. The Indian team has ticked the right boxes whereas South Africa has been struggling to get going in all the three departments of the game.
