Delhi Capitals will perhaps not have to look out for batsmen if they need one in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Their advisor and former India skipper Sourav Ganguly was seen having a go with the bat in the nets. And it won’t be entirely wrong to say that the legendary batsman has still got the classy touch in his batting.
Sourav Ganguly rolled back the years with some trademark shots like the cover drive and the square cut.
Delhi Capitals took to Twitter to post a clip of that net session. Here is the tweet:
So…@SGanguly99 decided to turn back the ⏰
RT if the 90s kid in you still cherishes those drives and cuts. #ThisIsNewDelhi #DelhiCapitals pic.twitter.com/dfOq6hOytD

Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, have started the season on a mixed note. They thrashed three-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians by 37 runs in their tournament opener at the Wankhede Stadium. Asked to bat first, Delhi had piled up 213 for 6 with Rishabh Pant’s whirlwind fifty being the notable contribution. In reply, Mumbai Indians were all out for 176.
However, Delhi’s winning start to the campaign ended in just their second game after they lost to defending champions Chennai Super Kings. Asked to bat first, they could only manage 147 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, the Super Kings chased it down with two balls remaining.
Delhi will be hoping their fortunes change this season. The national capital-based outfit is one of the perennial underachievers in the league. More often than not, they have ended up with the wooden spoon.
In eleven seasons, they progressed ahead of the league stage just thrice and are yet to reach the final. Their last play-off appearance came way back in 2012. Since then, they have not managed to finish above sixth. Hopes were high when they assembled a strong squad last year. But they disappointed once again and failed to progress to the next stage.
