West Indies Name Unchanged 13 Man Squad For 3rd And Final Test

Batting all-rounder Kyle Mayers and uncapped bowler Anderson Phillip remain on the 13-man list, having missed out in Bridgetown.

“We really appreciated the fighting spirit from the batting department,” said chief selector Desmond Haynes. “We decided to stick with the same squad and want to see them continue to give a big effort in the third Test match.”

Kraigg Brathwaite, the captain, was the mainstay of their 2nd Test draw in Barbados on Sunday, as he batted for a total of 15 hours and 45 minutes across his two innings of the Test, making 160 and 56 not out from a total of 673 balls, the most ever faced by a West Indian in a completed Test match.
Jermaine Blackwood, the vice-captain, also made a first-innings hundred in the 2nd Test- his third in Tests and second against England – as West Indies posted 411 in their first innings, stretched across 187.5 overs. Nkrumah Bonner’s unbeaten 38, following on from his 123 in the first innings, earned him the man of the match award in the 1st Test.

West Indies Wants To End Winless Streak Of Last 4 Test Series ; England Are At Bottom Of WTC

The decider gets underway on Thursday in St George’s. West Indies are looking to end a run of four Test series without victory since a 2-0 success in Bangladesh over a year ago. England have not won a series in the Caribbean since 2004 and have won only one of their last 16 Test matches, leaving them bottom of the World Test Championship table.

England expect to have Ollie Robinson and Craig Overton available for Thursday’s Third Test against West Indies in Grenada. Ollie Robinson was not risked for the 2nd Test in Barbados because England did not want to gamble with him after a back spasm.

Craig Overton sat out having suffered a fatigue-related illness the day before the 2nd Test. Mark Wood was also ruled out with an elbow injury before the 2nd Test which led England to field two debutants in the seam attack, Matt Fisher and Saqib Mahmood.

West Indies squad: Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Jermaine Blackwood, Nkrumah Bonner, Shamarh Brooks, John Campbell, Joshua Da Silva, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kyle Mayers, Veerasammy Permaul, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales
