Will Indian Bowlers Be Rested For England ODIs? 1
Mohammed Shami hold his leg during the first Test match against England at Rajkot.

The journey started on September 22 against New Zealand at Kanpur when Indian team kicked off the first Test off the 13 Test matches to be played till March 2017. With Indian team not addicted to playing such a flurry of Test matches in a row, there were warnings about injuries as well, why not? It’s never easy to appear in 13 Test matches within a period of six months comprising of ODIs and T20Is as well.
The worst affected players are the fast bowlers who have the duty to run down fast and furious. They have to keep them fit in comparison to each and every another player. They have the maximum burnout if we talk about this, injuries to chip in, it’s a part and parcel of their lifestyle. Fast bowlers and injuries are synonyms to each other, there are few exceptions like Kapil Dev.

But the game has changed now, probably thinking like an old man, the players do not have te power to sustain in modern day cricket like the players of the previous century had. The luxuries provided to these players have them slave of technology; hence, they do not possess same power like players past had.

Well, that’s the story of past and now we are in a new world, so we have to think according to the present era only. With Indian team set to play six more Test matches after the Wankhede Test, the Indian bowlers face a high risk of burnout and there is a possibility that all the current Indian bowlers will be rested for the England ODIs and T20Is, except Jayant Yadav who has just started is a career.

The main reason behind this is that this will facilitate them to take some time off and return after a period of about one and a half month afresh and go straight against Bangladesh in one of the Tests scheduled to be played in February followed by a crucial revengeful Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from February 22.

This will give time to Indian bowlers to take the much-needed rest and come back with full energy.

Previously, we saw Mohammed Shami playing with an injury in the World Cup 2015 and as a result, Indian team missed his services for almost a year. The same thing can happen in future if we do not take this burnout seriously. To prevent this, there is a sure shot possibility that Indian bowlers will be rested for England ODIs and T20Is with selectors wanting bowlers to bowl in just Test cricket at least for this season.
