I Will Speak To My Colleagues In BCCI To Understand Philosophy: Vikram Limaye

Renowned banker Vikram Limaye has stated he has a clear goal to ensure the ‘better governance’ in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which witnessed a major overhauling in the recent past following the long-standing tussle between the BCCI and Justice RM Lodha Committee over the reformations in cricket.
After the four-member committee was announced by the Supreme Court on Monday, that will be led by former Comptroller and Auditor General, Vinod Rai, the CEO and Managing Director of Infrastructure Development Finance Company Limaye has promised to show his ultimate dedication in serving the country’s cricket governing body to achieve desired results.
“I take up the responsibility with utmost seriousness and will be working to ensure better governance in the BCCI,” Limaye was quoted as saying by PTI.
The apex body appointed four members including famous historian Ramachandra Guha and former India women’s skipper Diana Edulji – to run the BCCI on interim basis.
The Wharton School of Business alumnus Limaye was delighted after being given a major role in BCCI by the apex body.
“Yes, my consent was taken and I consider it as a huge honour especially as I was considered worthy of this role by the Supreme Court of India,” Limaye said.
Limaye will speak with his colleagues to have a detailed discussion before submitting the report.
Earlier, following the tenure limit for the reformations in cricket body, many official bearers were declared ineligible.
Limaye will be attending the ICC’s meet alongside Joint Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary and Treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhary in Dubai from February 2 to 4.
“I will not like to comment on anything that I am unaware of. This is my first foray into cricket administration. Obviously, I will speak to my colleagues in BCCI, understand the philosophy of the Board and also analyse and view the circumstances of the past. It will be very premature to make any comments without getting into the details of the matter,” Limaye added.
The four-member panel will be submitting a complete report to the apex court about the implementation of Lodha Committee as the next hearing has been scheduled for March 27.
“One part of our job will be to implement the reforms of the Justice Lodha panel. But that is only a part of the job. There are a lot of things that we need to sit down and figure out as to how we will be going about our job,” concluded Limaye.
