Yash Dhull on Saturday revealed former Indian skipper and U19 World Cup-winning skipper, Virat Kohli’s advice for the team ahead of the team’s final against England at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Yash Dhull admitted that the interaction lifted the team’s morale. India will lock horns against England in the summit clash on Saturday. Ahead of the final, Virat Kohli had interacted with the members of the U19 squad on Thursday. Incidentally, Virat Kohli had also won the U19 World Cup in 2008 as he had led the Indian side.

Yash Dhull: Virat Kohli Gave Indian U19 Team Best Wishes For 2022 U19 World Cup Final And Team Got Confident From That Interaction

Yash Dhull-led side will be aiming to hand India an unprecedented fifth U19 World Cup title. India already own the record for most titles – 4 – one of which was by a Virat Kohli-led Indian side back in 2008.

“Virat Kohli gave us his best wishes for the final. We got confidence from that, the morale increases when a senior player like him talks to you. He told us how we can execute our plans and he told us about the basics of the game, it was a nice interaction with him,” Yash Dhull said recalling Virat Kohli’s interaction with the team after India’s semi-final win against Australia.

India will be gunning for a 5th U19 title and they go into the final as favourites. England on the other hand are back in the final for the first time since 1998 and will be hoping to upset India. England have played well so far, having not faced many issues along their way to the final. They have won all five of their matches leading up to the final.

India have also won all five of their matches but it has not been smooth sailing. They were down to exactly 11 players for one match and 12 for another but they overcame those hurdles in a dominating fashion to get to the final.

Yash Dhull, Who Scored 110 In Semis Said The Indian U19 Team Will Enter The 2022 U19 WC final With A Positive Frame Of Mind

India have scripted an unbeaten run to the final, winning all their Group-B matches before beating Bangladesh in the quarterfinal and Australia in the semis to reach their eighth U19 World Cup final and fourth consecutive since 2016.

“The morale is high, everyone is excited about the game. We will enter the contest with a positive frame of mind. England played a close match against Afghanistan, we will make our own game plans. We will look to carry our form into the final. Our spinners are nice, we will look to execute our plans,” said Dhull.

“Everyone is ready to give their 100 per cent, we will enter the final with a positive mindset. We are here to represent the country. We have gotten more experienced, we now know the value of time and how to prepare mentally for big games. Our game has also improved, we have learnt how to deal with pressure,” he added.

Yash Dhull had tested Covid-19 positive, along with many others, and the previous three years of hard work – with the goal of playing at the World Cup – looked like it was going up in smoke. He received a shot in the arm when VVS Laxman told him that he would return to the XI wearing the captain’s armband as soon as he was ready.

When he returned, he scored an unbeaten 20 in a tricky quarter-final chase. That got him valuable playing time. The short innings left people wanting more, but the small target didn’t offer the scope to see Yash Dhull’s full range. However, his counter-attacking 110 in the semi-final against Australia was worth the wait.
