Yusuf Pathan will soon be heading to Nairobi, Kenya for a stint with Stray Lions Cricket Club.
Out of favour Indian batsman, Yousuf Pathan is all set to ply his trade in Kenya to play for Stray Lions Cricket Club. Yousuf Pathan recently played in Dhaka Premier League where he had a successful stint with Abhahani Limited in Bangladesh. He just played two matches for the club as the holy month of Ramadan started soon and had to return back home.
But this time, he is looking for a full stint with the Kenyan side as he has no assignment at home before the Ranji Trophy which will start on October 1.
Yousuf said, “In order to be match-fit, I will be in Kenya, playing for a couple of weeks. I have got clearance from the BCCI. I am eagerly looking forward to my first appearance in the League,” Yusuf was quoted as said. Yousuf will board on Kenya-bound flight tonight .
In Dhaka Premier League (DPL)2016 Yousuf helped his team to chase down a 245 run target in 50 over the match. He smashed a 47 ball 60 run innings, his innings was comprised of seven boundaries and two sixes.
“That knock gave double delight as the win helped the team to advance in the competition. In the second match, I scored 20-odd and had to return as Ramzan was starting,” he said.
Yousuf plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL and scored 361 runs at an average of 72.20 at a strike rate of 145 in IPL 2016.
Yousuf during the 2016 IPL looked fitter and agile on the field. He asked the KKR trainer Adrina le Roux to help him to improve his fitness level. “After coming in contact with Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) trainer Adrian Le Roux, my fitness regime has changed for the better. “I follow his schedule religiously and it helped me have a good IPL 2016 during which experts talked about my fitness and agility along with my performance,” remarked Yusuf.
