Empty stadiums, distant celebrations, masked substitutes, and the sound of the ball piercing the net, that’s how European football marked its return when Bundesliga continued their campaign after a break of almost two months because of the coronavirus outbreak globally.

Although the fans weren’t behind their teams as the campaign resumed, the players ensured that they were all set and ready for the task they had been waiting for days. The intensity was at its peak on the first return day of Bundesliga and some of the teams clearly dominated their opposition and announced that they have come back to rule the world of football.

There were six games played in total on the return day of Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund thrashed Schalke by 4-0 at home. Hertha Berlin dominated Hoffenheim and beat them by 3-0. Wolfsburg had a fierce battle with Augsburg and managed to beat them by 2-1.

Dusseldorf and Paderborn ended up playing a 0-0 draw and RB Leipzig’s winning run was also shunned by SC Freiburg as they played out a 1-1 draw. The final match of the day was between Monchengladbach and Frankfurt and the former emerged victorious by 3-1.

A lot of happening took place on the Bundesliga points table as well. Leipzig’s draw and Monchengladbach’s win saw the latter climb up the ladder and take the third spot in the table. A total of two games will be played today in the Bundesliga, the second of which will pan out between Union Berlin and Bayern Munich.

Bundesliga Matchday 26: Home But No Home For Union Berlin

Statistically and on paper, there seems no chance that Union Berlin have got the chances to beat Bayern Munich. The only support that they could have sought was their home fans, which unfortunately can’ t turn up for the game. It will take a mammoth of an effort for Union Berlin to get past Bayern Munich.
