Just when it looked like South Korea’s journey in the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup is about to end, their talisman Son Heung-min came up with a magical moment to power his team to the next stage.

The Tottenham Hotspur star ran almost the entire length of the field before providing an assist for substitute Hwang Hee-chan who made no mistake in slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.

The match was already in injury time when Portugal won a corner. South Korea knew that they needed one more goal to keep their hopes of progressing ahead alive and thus kept Son at a position from where he could break.

South Korea executed their plan to perfection with Son playing a huge role in it. After the corner was cleared inside the penalty box, the ball landed right in front of Son who was waiting for the right moment just outside the box.

As soon as he received the ball, he turned towards the Portugal goal and ran almost 70 yards and picked his pass perfectly. At one stage, it looked like Son would be tackled near the edge of the Portugal box but before the Portugal players could do that, the South Korea superstar slipped the ball through for Hwang, who had timed his run to absolute perfection. Hwang only had the goalkeeper to beat and he did that with ease.

Here is a clip of the goal from Son Heung-min:

Thanks to the incredible win over Portugal, South Korea have booked their place in the knockouts. Apart from them, Portugal have progressed to the next round from Group H.
