2017 FIFA Confederations Cup: Cameroon, Australia Earn A Point Each After 1-1 Draw

Cameroon were held to a 1-1 draw by Australia in the Group B clash of 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. Andre Zambo Anguissa gave Cameroon the lead just before the end of the first half which was ruled out by Australia with a converted penalty in the second half.

With a 4-3-3 formation, Cameroon opt for an unchanged starting XI from their previous game against Chile.

On the other hand, Australia started with 3-4-3 formation along with two changes in the starting XI from their last game against Germany. Robbie Kruse and Alex Gersbach replaced Massimo Luongo and Aziz Behich respectively.

The first half was less entertaining as the both sides had fewer activities in their final thirds. However, Cameroon earned a goal in the injury time of the first half.

Just before the final whistle of the first half, Anguissa earned the 1-0 lead for Cameroon with a smart finish.

In the second half, there were many activities in the final thirds; especially from the Cameroon sides.

On an hour mark of the match, Australia won a penalty after Mabouka committed a foul inside the penalty box. Mark Milligan made no mistake to score on it as Australia levelled the scoreline.

But more disappointedly, Cameroonian striker Aboubakar failed to convert some great chances which hurt the African nation badly to miss their deserving three points from the match.

In the meantime, Australians were mostly very far to make any challenging situation for the opposite side; even after their equaliser goal.
