Arsenal Open Talks To Finally Land French Hitman; Could Offer Olivier Giroud To Reduce The Price

Arsene Wenger will be distraught by the way his Arsenal side dropped out of a place in the top-4 for the first time in his tenure in England.

They also failed to progress in the Champions League in the previous season but won the FA Cup to end what was a pretty mediocre by their standards.

However, the French manager is in no mood to reel in the past and having signed a two years contract extension with the club, has already started working on the squad next season.

Arsenal have already announced their first summer signing in Sead Kolasinac and reports today suggest that they might be closing in on another signing soon.

Reports from English news outfit Metro claim that Arsenal are now close to signing their long-term transfer target Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

The French international is easily one of the best finishers in world football at the moment and has been a target for Arsenal for more than a year now.

The Gunners were rejected in their £29m bid for his services last summer but Wenger is now ready to splash the cash on his this summer.

The report claims that The French club’s president, Jean-Michel Aulas, travelled to London earlier this week for further negotiations and that Arsenal are leading the race for his signature this summer.

It is also understood that the French club are demanding €55 million (£48.7m) up front with a further €12m (£10.6m) in add-ons.

Wenger is determined to land Lacazette and will start negotiations but with Manchester United and Liverpool also interested in his services, it will be interesting to see if Wenger can land Lacazette this summer.

The same report also claims that the Lyon president has enquired about the availability of French striker Olivier Giroud, who has just a year left on his contract with Arsenal.

The 31, year old was in decent form last season but is not expected to start every game next season. So he might be tempted to move back to the League 1 with Lyon, which could also reduce the asking price for Lacazette this summer.

Do you think Arsenal can land Lacazette this summer?
