Arsenal target Kostas Manolas has reportedly refused to sign a contract extension at Roma and with Arsenal showing heavy interest in the defender, this just makes the story spicier.
The 25-year-old has made 86 appearances for Roma since making his Manolas made his debut for Roma in 2014 and since then the 25-year-old has played 86 games for the Serie A club but now, with speculations of moving to the Premier League, his career could receive a great boost.
It is believed that Chelsea are also keen on signing the highly-rated defender besides Arsenal, and after the news of Manolas rejecting to sign a new deal, both London clubs are excited. According to Manolas’ agent, Roma offered a £2.3million per season renewal deal to the 25-year-old, which he refused to sign.
Iannis Evangelopoulos said:
‘It’s true, I can confirm we have not agreed on a contract renewal with Roma,’
‘Could he reach it over the next few weeks? I doubt we will.’
Manchester United were also monitoring the Greece international pretty closely but after Jose Mourinho signed Villarreal centre-half Eric Bailly, the Red Devils cooled down their interest in the Roma defender.
The Roma no. 44’s market value is believed to be around 24 million euros. According to Squawka stats, the centre-half won 62% duels, created 7 chances, with an average passing accuracy of 87% and average passing length of 19m, he also made 4 defensive errors and received 7 yellowed cards in his 36 appearances in the Seria A last season.
