With Arsenal being short on options defensively after injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel, as well as fitness concerns surrounding Laurent Koscielny; Arsene Wenger identified Shkodran Mustafi as the man to solve his defensive woes but it seems that the Gunners’ boss will have to spend a good fortune to land the defender at the Emirates.
According to reports in the Daily Mirror, Arsenal have been quoted a fee of £50 million by Valencia to sign their long-term target Shkodran Mustafi.
The Spanish club are holding out for a big payday in order to finance a move for Chelsea winger Pedro, but they may settle for less to ensure some cash comes into the club.
Meanwhile, despite claiming that he is ready to splash the cash as soon as the right player is available Arsene Wenger is reportedly hesitating to go ahead with the deal. However, Arsenal’s transfer chief Dick Law has travelled to Spain in an attempt to broker a compromise for the centre-back.
