Arsenal Transfer News: Lyon Want Olivier Giroud In Part-Exchange Deal For Lacazatte
Lyon are ready to sell their striker Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal but are keen to have Olivier Giroud as part of the deal, according to latest reports.
The French striker was on the verge of joining Spanish club Atletico Madrid but the move cannot happen as Los Rojiblancos are set to serve transfer ban this summer which will not see them sign any new players until January.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is ready to let their star striker leave who is believed to be rated at £60million and Arsenal are considered favorites to land him since the ban on Atletico.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to add a top class striker to his roster which he has been lacking since the departure of Robin van Persie to Manchester United in 2012. The French tactician has vowed to spend big this summer as he is set to form a squad that will challenge for Premier League title next season.
According to Le10 Sport, Aulus will sell Alexandre Lacazette only in a part exchange deal that will involve another French striker Olivier Giroud. However, this could be tricky for the club as the 31-year old is not keen to move back to his homeland to play full time.
Giroud was constantly criticized by French fans despite scoring 17 goals in his last 21 appearances for the French national team. He said: “It does get to you after a while, especially because you’re doing the job on the field.”
The French striker have only signed a new deal at the club in January after his impressive season but is expected to leave the club this summer in search of more playing time. Wenger is ready to bring in a top class striker and is linked with both Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.
This could make Giroud get even lesser game time in the upcoming season which could seriously hamper his chances of making it to the national squad for 2018 World Cup. The former Montepellier striker has been linked with Premier League rivals West Ham as well as French club Marseille in the recent weeks but he might prefer a move to the other side of London.
