Spanish giants Barcelona have end their interest in signing Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin as he doesn’t meet their ‘conditions’, according to reports.
Barcelona Failed Pursuit
The Catalan club are in the market to find a right back which seemed to be the weakest position in their lineup. They were keen to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin since the start of the summer.
The Spaniard had just signed a new six and half year contract with the club in November last year till 2023. But Bluagrana believed that he could be an ideal replacement for Dani Alves at the right back position as they pushed for a deal.
However, Arsenal have stood firm on their stance to keep hold of Bellerin and they had the chance to reject the interest with the long term contract that Bellerin signed. Bellerin was also keen to reunite with his former club despite making public tweets which read: “Don’t believe everything you read…”

According to Spanish media outlet Sport, new manager Ernesto Valverde had met with the club officials to chalk out transfer targets for the summer and it is claimed that the Gunners’ defender is not yet good enough to go back to Camp Nou.
The 22-year is believed to not have the necessary physical and technical conditions to make the cut at Barcelona. This meant Barca are set to search for the right replacement for Dani Alves this summer. The 34-year old left Barca as a free agent to Juventus and played a massive role at Turin last season.
Bellerin is considered as one of the best young full backs in entire Europe and had made an impact at Arsenal in the past two seasons after breaking into the starting lineup during 2014-15 season.
Other Potential Targets
Barcelona have very little to choose from the transfer market at the moment. The club have signed Gerard Deulofeu using a buy back clause from Everton in a bargain deal but they are looking for a proper defensive full back.
Aleix Vidal and Sergio Roberto had failed to switch back to a defensive role for the club last season which made the situation to be addressed going into new season. Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta is reportedly one of the targets alongside Benfica young sensation Nelson Semedo.
