Aguero made no mistake, coolly finishing past the approaching Jussi Jaaskelainen. Minutes later Jaaskelainen was called into action again, saving smartly from an Aguero volley. Alvaro Negredo could have doubled City’s lead with 32 minutes on the clock but dragged wide of the West Ham goal from a tight angle. The home side created the better of their own chances down the left flank, where winger Stewart Downing put the City defense to work with some testing crosses. But West Ham’s best performer has been Jaaskelainen, who made his most spectacular of several crucial saves to deny Yaya Toure just before the break. The visitors made raced into a two goal lead six minutes after the restart courtesy of Aguero. He was left unmarked and flashed a header into the top corner. At 2-0, City were cruising but the deficit was reduced in the 58th minute when Vaz Te scored with a brilliant bit of improvisation. But the game was put beyond doubt when Aguero turned provider 10 minutes from time. Silva collected a pass, before stepping past Winston Reid and curling an inch-perfect shot into the top corner.
