Bayern Munich‘s Thiago Alcantara has suffered yet another knee ligament injury having just returned to training last week and requires another surgery which means that he will be forced to sit on the sidelines for another considerable chunk of time.

The 23-year-old’s career in Munich is yet to kick start as he made only 16 Bundesliga appearances last season before tearing a knee ligament in March.

He had to miss the World Cup in Brazil after requiring surgery when he suffered a setback in training in May having returned from his injury.

Bayern’s official account tweeted: “Devastating: @Thiago6 (23) has suffered a ligament tear in training. He needs an operation and is set for another lengthy absence.”

The Spaniard expressed his grief but vowed not to give up as he told the club’s offcial website, “Of course, I am at the moment profoundly disappointed and upset. Why always me? But I will not give up. I will fight again. I’m going to get close again. And I will celebrate my comeback at Bayern.”

Sporting director Matthias Sammer offered his support to the midfielder and said, “We are all shocked and sad after this new injury. Thiago was so close to a comeback after a long time. But he knows that the everyone at Bayern is here for him. We will do everything for him to get fit again and win many titles with us.”
