Big Blow: Chelsea Set To Miss Out On Leonardo Bonucci

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci set to rebuff interest from Chelsea once again as he decides to stay at Turin, according to reports.

The 30-year old is one of the best central defenders in the world and has been linked with a reunion with his former manager Antonio Conte as the duo worked together both at Juventus and Italian national team.

The Blues are considering to add another defender to their central defense to bolster their options. With John Terry leaving the club, there are viewing Bonucci as an ideal replacement due to his leadership qualities to drive the back line. Chelsea are ready to bid a massive £45million to sign the experienced defender.

However, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Conte has failed in his pursuit yet again this summer after failing to convince him last season. Bonucci is currently not ready to leave Turin as he has been a key player for Juventus since his move to the club seven years ago.

The central defender remains a massive player for Max Allegri at Juventus as he won six consecutive league titles with the club and have also played in two Champions League finals. Despite interest in the Italian, the Blues are also linked with Brazilian Alex Sandro as the full back is tipped to move to Stamford Bridge.

Conte is keen to land Sandro as the Brazilian is arguably the best left back in the world last season. The Blues have offered a massive £160,000-a-week which is a substantial increase to his current wages with Italian champions.

Juventus have also confirmed that they received an offer for the Brazilian but insisted not to sell any of their players unless the player is willing to leave Turin.

‘A substantial offer has arrived for Sandro,’ Juve director Beppe Marotta said.

‘We have no intention of selling anyone, but don’t want to keep anyone against their will.’

Chelsea are in the middle of another frustrating summer transfer window as the Blues have failed to land any major signings so far. Conte had also failed to convince players last summer and managed to sign David Luiz and Marcos Alonso on the deadline day despite being linked with many stars over the summer.
