Boost For Arsenal As Manchester City Pull Out Of Hector Bellerin Race

Pep Guardiola has done a decent job with the squad at his disposal in the previous season but failed to land any silverware in what was his first campaign in England.

However, he is now determined not to go another season without glory and has made some stellar additions to the squad that can help them compete at the highest level next season.

The Spanish manager is still searching for players who can improve particular areas of the squad and one position that the Citizens are desperate to improve on is the full-back position.

Guardiola let the likes of Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna out of the club on a free transfer and is now in desperate need of a first choice right-back before the start of the next season.

The start of their pre-season is not too far away and this might see City complete a deal for one of their top transfer targets but one player that will not make a move to the Etihad this summer is Arsenal star Hector Bellerin.

Wanted by Barcelona

The Spanish international is one of the quickest players in world football and is one of the most exciting right backs on show in Europe at the moment.

He failed to impress Arsene Wegner enough in the previous season and lost his place in the first team late last season.

However, he is still pretty young and has plenty of future ahead of him and he is a prime transfer target for Spanish giants Barcelona.

After the sale of Dani Alves, the La Liga outfit are yet to replace the Brazilian at right back and want their academy product Bellerin to come back to Spain and take his place in the side.

Arsenal are reluctant to let him go and are asking for a record fee for a full-back, which Barcelona are not ready to pay.

But the Catalan side are not the only ones looking at the full-back as a target as Manchester City were also reportedly interested in his services.

Manchester City ‘yet to forgive’ Hector Bellerin

But the full-back declined a move to the Etihad and it is now understood that director of football Txiki Begiristain does not see Bellerin as a transfer target anymore.

According to Goal, Begiristain has not forgiven Bellerin yet for snubbing his club in the past and will not pursue his services anymore.

This will come as a huge boost for Arsenal, who will hope to keep the player in England this summer.
