Bundesliga outfit FC Mainz are keen to sign Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry, according to reports in Germany.
Mainz have lost their wingers due to injuries to their preferred wingers Jhon Cordoba andJairo Samperio which meant the club had to look for options during the last days of the transfer window.
Gnabry who was in brilliant form in Olympics is expected to either break into Arsenal first team or leave on loan this season as he has scored six goals in as many games at Rio games.
The 21-year old is into his last year on his Arsenal contract and the Gunners are keen to have the player. Gnabry has failed to cement his place at Arsenal first team as he was sent on loan to West Brom last season but was recalled as he managed only one Premier League appearance in his loan spell.
With his recent form, a host of Bundesliga clubs are interested in signing the former Stuttgart youth prodigy including the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt, Hertha Berlin and RB Leipzig but FC Mainz are confident to finalize the deal in a couple of days.
It remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger will send the young forward on loan considering the amount of pressure that the manager is facing to sign a striker this summer. Could Wenger gamble on Gnabry this season to see if he could become like a Marcus Rashford at Manchester United last season.
