Cafu Lauds Marcelo And Dani Alves As Best Full Backs In World Football

Former Brazilian international Cafu has praised Real Madrid’s left back Marcelo and Juventus’ Dani Alves as the two best full backs in football at the moment ahead of the Champions League final this weekend.

The 11-time champions Real Madrid are set to take on Juventus as they look to become the first team in Champions League era to retain the European trophy which has not happened over the past two decades.

Cafu, who is the most capped Brazilian of all time and considered as the one of the greatest right backs of all time, believes his fellow countrymen are the best in the business.

“It will be a clash of the titans. We are talking about the two best full-backs in the world at the moment,” he told DPA in Berlin.

“Dani Alves attacks a lot, but Marcelo does the same. Tactically, it will be very interesting and it will be fantastic for Brazilian football.”

Dani Alves had decided to leave Barcelona on free last summer and has proved his worth after joining Juventus as he is arguably their best player on the pitch in the knockout games for Italian giants.

“He had to go so it was possible to see that Barcelona’s strength was not really from a Neymar, a Messi or a Suarez – but rather, Dani Alves,” he continued.

Juventus, who are making steady progress in Europe, believe that this could be their year while Real Madrid take the favorites tag. Los Blancos have managed to eliminate the likes of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid in quarterfinals and semi finals to make their progress while Juventus had to overcome Barcelona and Monaco to reach Cardiff.

AC Milan’s Cafu have praised both the teams for their impressive play styles and revealed that they are no favorites for the final as both the teams have equal chances.

“Real Madrid have impressive power going forward, but Juventus’ defensive capabilities is the biggest thing. Anything could happen,” he noted.

“In a final, there are no favourites. The two teams will arrive in good shape, the game will be a 50-50.”

Real Madrid are arguably the best team going forward but Juventus have the best defense in entire Europe as the Old Lady have only allowed one goal from open play in six Champions League knockout games this season. Real Madrid and Juventus will clash for the biggest club title in Europe on June 3 in the iconic Principality stadium, Cardiff.
