Carrick, Rashford out, Martial, Herrera in: Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea

Barclays Premier League; Sunday, 16th April; Old Trafford, Manchester; KO: 4:00 pm BST (8:30 pm IST)

Jose Mourinho will be relatively happy with a 1-1 draw against Anderlecht in the first leg of the Europa league away from home. But having to play in the Premier League just days later will definitely frustrate him. The Red Devils face one of their toughest tasks this season when they welcome Antonio Conte’s Chelsea to Old Trafford this weekend.

The Blues have dropped a few points in the last couple of months and Manchester United will believe that they can get maximum points from this game. Chelsea and Conte embarrassed United in the reverse fixture earlier this season and this game might see some temper flaring as Mourinho will accept nothing less than a victory. Fatigue will play its part but here is the predicted lineup that Mourinho might field for this tie:

Team News:

The Red Devils are without the services of Juan Mata, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones, all of who are expected to miss the rest of the season. Winger Ashley Young and skipper Wayne Rooney are looking good but may not be able to start this tie.

Expected lineup (4-2-3-1):

Defense:

While David de Gea is the automatic choice for GK, Mourinho should stick with his first choice right-back Antonio Valencia for this game. With Jones and Smalling absent, United should play Eric Bailly and partner him with Marcos Rojo, who has also been excellent in recent games.

Italian full-back Matteo Darmian was used for the Europa League game but English youngster Luke Shaw is expected to be back in action for this game against Chelsea at left-back.

Midfield:

Veteran midfielder Michael Carrick played the full-90 mins in the previous game in Belgium and he must be rested for this game to bring in Ander Herrera. French star Paul Pogba should keep his place in the starting XI.

Attack:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a torrid night in Brussels but he will hope to get back to winning ways this weekend against Chelsea. Jesse Lingard put in a decent performance and might keep his place in the side while the goal scorer Henrikh Mkhitaryan should play slightly behind Zlatan in this tie.

Marcus Rashford started the Europa League tie while Martial was benched. The French star is expected to replace him in the first team on the left-wing.

This is how they would line up:
