Premier League leaders Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing West Ham United star Dimitri Payet as the France international recently refused to commit himself to the club until the summer.
West Ham boss, Slaven Bilic revealed on Thursday that Payet was refusing to play for the Hammers after a £20million bid from Marseille was rejected.
Speaking ahead of his the game against Crystal Palace, Bilic had said:“: “We have said we don’t want to sell our best players but Dimitri Payet does not want to play for us. We are not going to sell him. I spoke to the chairman and this is not a money issue. We gave him a long contract because we want him to stay.
“He is refusing to play for us. I have a team to manage. He’s probably been tapped up. Until he changes his attitude and shows the commitment the club have shown him, he is out of the team. We had a conversation a couple of days ago but this began 10 days or so ago when the window opens.”
The France star is still not back at the club, raising speculations over his future and English news outlet The Sun has reported that the Blues are looking to cash in on the situation. The report claimed that Antonio Conte is eyeing the West Ham star after missing out on Bayern Munich ace Arturo Vidal.
The Stamford Bridge outfit were heavily linked with the Chile international but Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti is not willing to sell the midfielder. Chelsea have the cash to splash in this window after Oscar moved to China for a whopping £60million and reports are suggesting that the Hammers might sell their star player if good offers come.
The Hammers are reluctant to sell Payet after handing him a lucrative £125,000-a-week deal until 2021 last February but the Daily Mirror has reported that they might change their stand once the right bid arrives for the disgraced player.
