Chelsea Face Number Of Road Blocks In Their Efforts To Sign French Midfield Enforcer

Antonio Conte helped Chelsea to their second league title in three years in what was his first season in charge of a Premier League outfit last season.

The Italian manager became the first manager to win the league in the first season in the country but the loss against Arsenal in the finals of the FA Cup in the final game of the previous campaign put forth from glaring frailties in the squad that need to be addressed this summer.

And Conte is already busy in trying to make sure that he improves the quality of the first team before going into the next season.

The Blues have already completed the signing of Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma to add to their defence and one name extensively linked with a move to Chelsea is AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Chelsea desperate for Bakayoko

The Blues used N Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in the first team lasts season with Cesc Fabregas acting as the only backup.

But Conte is now ready to sell the Serbian international, wanted by Manchester United and wants to replace him with Bakayoko this summer.

The Blues have reportedly agreed on a deal with the player and were ready to book his medical earlier last week.

They have agreed terms of a £35m deal for Bakayoko and Conte is determined to use him alongside Kante in the middle of the park for Chelsea next season.

However, all has not been as easy for Chelsea, as there are a number of hiccups on their way to landing the star.

His Knee Problem

The 22-year old is a prime target for Conte and the manager is ready to do all it takes to land him this summer but reports suggest that there are a few things that are holding up the deal.

According to the Telegraph, Bakayoko’s knee injury, he picked up late last season, could be a long-term problem for the player.

Chelsea are not going to sign an error prone midfielder but they expect his medical condition to improve and this should not be a problem for the deal.

However, Chelsea are also reportedly yet to agree on a fee structure with the French outfit, and it now looks like they do not have too much time to do so as Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are not too far away.

The Red Devils are also in the need of a midfield partner for Paul Pogba and Mourinho wants his French counterpart Bakayoko at the club next season.

He is ready to make a bid in the upcoming days so it will be interesting to see where Bakayoko plays next season.
