Chelsea are considered front runners to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, according to reports.
Top Class Striker
The 28-year old is one of the deadliest strikers in the world and was an ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski at Signal Iduna Park when the Pole left for Bayern Munich on a free deal three seasons ago.
Aubameyang has since grown into a world class striker and had managed an impressive 31 goals in Bundesliga alone to win the Golden Boot award in Germany. He also managed an astonishing 40 goals in just 46 appearances for the club across all competitions.
Chelsea are also in the market to sign a new striker after manager Antonio Conte falling out with Diego Costa last month. The Blues are linked with numerous strikers across Europe but has so far failed to sign any of their targets.
The Blues were heavily linked with Everton’s striker Romelu Lukaku but the Belgian had decided against moving back to Stamford Bridge and instead agreed to sign for Manchester United on Friday.
Odds are slashed by Punters over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the striker that would sign for Chelsea this summer, according to Daily Express.
The Gabon international is also being linked with a move to Liverpool but the most likely odds are for a move to Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjian.
However, Dortmund are assured that Aubameyang will stay with the club but the club are open to talks till a certain time, confirmed Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc.
“For now, we assume that Aubameyang will stay,” he told WAZ. “We arranged with him that we are open for talks but only until a certain point of time.”
Blues Frustration Continues
Conte is in desperate need to sign a striker for next season but Chelsea have so far failed to find a potential replacement for Diego Costa, who is not in the plans of the manager. The Blues will need to find solutions quickly for their transfer crisis after their slow start to their transfer window.
Chelsea had already let go Asmir Begovic and John Terry so far this summer and had signed former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero on a free deal.
