AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has passed the medical at Stamford Bridge as he is on the verge of joining Chelsea, according to reports.
The 22-year old is one of the key midfielders for Monaco in their title triumph last season and is one of the most sought after footballers in the ongoing transfer window. The Blues have offered a £35million fee to secure the services of Bakayoko.
N’Golo Kante will be likely to be partnered by the new signing at Stamford Bridge as he is considered the missing piece in Chelsea’s midfield by manager Antonio Conte.
Bakayoko had flew to London and passed the medical successfully at Stamford Bridge, according to The Sun. The Blues are confident of finalizing the minor details in the move as the transfer looks very close to completion in the coming days.
The summer transfer window will officially open on July 1, Thursday, and the Blues are hopeful of announcing the signing of Bakayoko once the window opens. Chelsea’s title rivals Manchester United were also linked with the midfielder in the recent weeks but the French midfielder is keen to work under Antonio Conte than Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen their squad this summer as they are set to return to Champions League this season. The Blues will also be trying to defend their Premier League title and Conte believes he needs more depth and quality in his squad.
Bakayoko would be the first signings for Chelsea this summer and will be an exciting one to begin heir business with. However, Antonio Conte is frustrated with the lack of acquiring his desired transfer targets yet again this summer.
The move for Bakayoko could mean Nemanja Matic could be on his way to Old Trafford. The Serbian international eyes a reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho as he believes he will be losing his place to incoming Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The 22-year old played an important hand in Monaco’s successful season as they managed to win the Ligue 1 title after long time and had also reached the semifinals of Champions League with a very young side last season.
