German club Werder Bremen has reportedly agreed deal for Arsenal young striker Serge Ganbry, according to the Bremen sporting director Frank Baumann.
“Serge Gnabry would like to play with us and talks with Arsenal are going well. FC Bayern have no influence on a potential transfer.
“We’ve agreed terms with the player and we’re confident that the transfer will go ahead. We were interested in the player four years ago but unfortunately it didn’t work out back then.
“We have reached an agreement with Arsenal but nothing has been finalised as of yet. [However] the transfer could be confirmed tomorrow morning.”
The 21-year old has come through the ranks of Stuttgart before joining Arsenal. Gnabry was in brilliant form in Olympics as he has scored six goals in as many games at Rio games.
The arrival of Lucas Perez from Deportivo meant he is now behind both Olivier Giroud and the new signing in the strikers’ pecking order at Arsenal and will find it hard to break into first team despite his brilliant form in the recent weeks.
Earlier reports suggested that European giants Bayern Munich are interested to sign the exciting talent and will send the player on loan to Bremen for the rest of the season but Baumann confirmed that they are involved in a direct transfer from Arsenal.
The 21-year old is into his last year on his Arsenal contract and the Gunners are keen to cash in on the player as he is keen to leave the club in search of first team football.
With his recent form, a host of Bundesliga clubs are interested in signing the former Stuttgart youth prodigy including the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt, Hertha Berlin and RB Leipzig but Werder Bremen are close to finalize the deal in the next few hours.
