Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been hit with a one-match touchline ban and £16,000 fine after being found guilty of breaking the code of conduct during United’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United. Mourinho was sent to the stands in the 27th minute after he kicked a water bottle on the touchline while expressing his frustration following a decision by the referee. The United boss was furious after Jonathan Moss booked Paul Pogba for diving.

The Portuguese tactician was charged by the Football Association (FA) with improper conduct a couple of days ago and had the options to respond to the charges. However, as per the statement released by the FA, the United boss accepted the charges.
The statement from the FA read: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today [Wednesday 30 November 2016], Jose Mourinho will serve a one-match touchline ban with immediate effect.
“The Manchester United manager admitted an FA charge that his behaviour in or around the 27th minute of the game against West Ham United on Sunday [27 November 2016] amounted to improper conduct. He was also fined £16,000.
As a result of the ban, Mourinho will miss Wednesday night’s game against West Ham in the EFL Cup.
This is the second time in a space of a month that the United boss has invited a touchline ban due to his antics on the touchline. He received a one-match touchline ban and was fined £8,000 after being sent off at half-time during United’s goalless draw against Burnley. The incident happened after he argued with referee Mark Clattenburg following the latter’s decision to not award a penalty to the Red Devils. The former Chelsea manager was also charged and fined £50,000 for comments he made about referee Anthony Taylor ahead of the game against Liverpool in October.
