Antonio Conte: These Two Players Can Make Huge Impact On Chelsea’s January Transfer Plans

Antonio Conte has revealed he will give Charly Musonda and Kenedy a chance to impress at Chelsea before deciding to make any moves in the January window.

Musonda and Kenedy have both returned to Chelsea after struggling for game time on loan in the first-half of the season.

Musonda spent the first half of the season on loan at Real Betis, while Kenedy saw just 16 minutes of action while at Watford.

The duo have been training with Chelsea over the Christmas period, and Antonio Conte has revealed he will continue to assess the pair before he decides on whether to make any moves in the January transfer window.

“Kennedy and Musonda went back from their loan because they didn’t play a lot,” said Conte.

“For this reason, I think it’s important to stay with us in these weeks to evaluate the best situation for them and for the team.

“In January, it’s not easy, with the club we are talking for us, if there’s a possibility to find the best solution for our squad.

“Also we have a lot of young players in our squad and I trust in them, in Ruben [Loftus-Cheek], in Chalo [Nathaniel Chalobah], in [Kurt] Zouma.

“Musonda, Kenedy, you are talking with a player of 20, 21 years, it’s important to find a right solution at home.

“Then, if it’s not possible, you have to look around to find a new solution.”

Elsewhere, John Obi Mikel seems destined to leave the club after a 10-year stint and has been linked with a move to French side Marseille.

Should the 29-year-old leave Stamford Bridge, Antonio Conte may go looking for a back-up, especially as his 3-4-3 formation affords for two holding midfielders.

John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic are both on rolling one-year deals and could be in their final season with the club.

Should both experienced defenders leave, Conte will need to look for a replacement to support his three-at-the-back defensive system.

However, Chelsea are not restricted by finances and have been propped up by the billions of Russian owner Roman Abramovich since 2003.

The Blues splashed the cash over the summer to bring in N’Golo Kante, David Luiz, Michy Batshuayi and Marcos Alonso for a combined £118million.

So it seems likely Conte will be afforded a sizeable kitty to spend in January if he chooses to add to his already solid squad.
